What is Music Preparation?
The end of Finale....
Anyone in the business is aware of the impact of MakeMusic's decision to end support for Finale. Luckily, MakeMusic heard the roar and they decided that owners of the software will still be able to install it on new computers. The question is, will it still work with new versions of both Windows and Apple OS. Everyone knows one little OS update could render Finale useless. Currently, I can still use Finale but I not starting new projects on it. I have invested in both Dorico and Sibelius and currently deciding which is better for my purposes. I have played with MuseScore, and while it is getting more powerful with each update, it doesn't meet my needs and being able to adjust every little detail on the page. I've been using Finale exclusively since the early 1900s and change doesn't come easy. And while I admit I'm not as fast with the new programs as I was with Finale, I'm slowly getting there. Meanwhile RIP Finale - you searved me well.
